I love seeing bird boxes in people’s gardens and on woodland walks but I always wonder, how many are actually inhabited?
So I went around my work, scouted out a few bird boxes and decided to sit next to them and observe. I was lucky as I knew at least one set of boxes (home to cockney sparrows) would be nice and active as I see them everyday, but the other was more of a gamble. I’d seen a bird fly into the box a few days previous and hadn’t thought much of it but to my surprise the box was home to a family of great tits.
This one is a quick and simple video which is easy to replicate, so why not hang out by a bird box yourself and see what flies inside?
